The Alpujata-Los Morales route runs through a beautiful landscapes where we find pine and cork oak forests, fields occupied by olive trees, almond trees and orchards, old lime kilns and cattle corrals ... a landscape that is the result of the dialogue between man and nature over time, not in vain belongs to the Biosphere Reserve of the Sierra de las Nieves.

This is a low-level family tour, ideal for enjoying and sharing nature and sports with children. The approximate duration is one hour and along the way we can find information panels on flora, fauna and traditional activities that have been developed in these places. The map of this route is at the end.

We start from the Carbonero fountain, in the Plaza de la Ermita (1) and go up towards Hospital street taking a concrete lane and, after passing under the A-355 road, we turn left and reach a curve (2) to see a beautiful landscape: the pine forest of Cerro Gordo and the Sierra de Alpujata. Going down we enjoy the road between olive, almond and fig trees until we reach a junction with three roads (3) where we take the middle one, which we follow without deviation reaching the stream of Alpujata, seasonal waters, where women used to wash their clothes and where oleanders, reeds and other plant species are born on its banks, while we find typical and thorny prickly pears on the edges of the farms, girded by stone walls.

We continue ahead and we observe the trace of the traditional trades materialized in a lime kiln or lime kiln (4), cylindrical structure where the lime was elaborated from the limestone rock, very abundant in the area. We continue enjoying the route until arriving, little further on, to the source of the Morales (5) that, protected under a paternal quejigo, escancia ferric waters in rustic marble basin. In it we can rest and take a snack enjoying the freshness and the views of cork oak groves and orange groves.

Retracing our steps we take a path that crosses the stream, the Portillo de las Ánimas (6), and we arrive at the Alberca Grande, heart of the orchards of Alpujata, where the waters of the stream are stored to irrigate the numerous terraces of orchards that extend at its feet. We headed towards the park of the Llanos de Alpujata (8) by a concrete road surrounded by orchards and small houses. The place has recreational areas and a bio-healthy circuit, sheltering numerous species of the zone like mulberry trees, poplars or poplars, that create a pleasant and cosy atmosphere.

After resting we return to the initial crossroads (3) and the village, where we can regain strength and eat in some of its bars tapas or restaurants.
